Reporting to the Manager Medical Imaging Services, the incumbent is responsible for the Medical Imaging Quality Assurance Program within Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC) through program planning, development, implementation, monitoring, education and support. The incumbent will participate in the planning and coordination of services; monitors the quality of work performed to ensure standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Provides input into recruitment and performance management, and supports the training and coaching of team members. As a member of the leadership team, participates in facilitating workplace solutions and the implementation of new equipment, techniques and procedures. The incumbent also performs direct patient care and support for Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) as required.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Knowledge of professional practices as outlined by Medical Imaging professional association guidelines and policies;
- Knowledge of and proficiency in Medical Imaging procedures;
- Knowledge of and proficient in supporting PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and RIS (Radiology Information System);
- Advanced knowledge of Quality Assurance program;
- Knowledge of basic and cross-sectional anatomy, physiology and pathology;
- Advanced knowledge of digital imaging equipment (operates, troubleshoots and adjusts as required);
- Excellent knowledge of Radiation, Health and Safety Regulations;
- Ability to deal with situations in a professional manner;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with colleagues, peers, patients and families;
- Ability to organize, prioritize, adapt to workload variances and resolve work related problems;
- Ability to keep current with technology changes and aid in implementation of accepted change;
- Ability to teach other health care professionals;
- Ability to be thorough with high attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills that promote advocacy/respect while remaining assertive;
- Reliability, self-motivation and ability to work independently with limited supervision;
- Cross-cultural awareness.
The successful applicant will have completed an approved program in Medical Imaging Technology, have current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), current certification in CPR and have three to five (3-5) years’ of Medical Imaging experience. Certified in Leadership skills, Conflict Resolution and/or experience in Human Resources Management, PACS/Imaging Informatics Administration, Bachelor of Radiation Science or Technology degree in Medical Imaging are considered desirable.
