Position Summary
Using the approved ISO documentation and procedures, oversee the manufacturing and assembly processes that are used to produce components and finished goods to ensure acceptable product quality and efficient production methodologies.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate UL/CSA audits and assist UL/CSA inspectors during follow up inspection.
- Perform scheduled Internal Audits of various departments for conforming to ISO 9001 standards.
- Co-ordinate, participate and maintain the company’s Quality and ISO’s certification programs.
- Ensure that the process documentation is followed for the production of components or the assembly of finished goods.
- Prepare the Quality Manual and quality procedures.
- Monitor the quality control data and data collection systems to highlight process problems.
- Manage relations with various departments: engineering, R&D, production, purchasing and sales and external suppliers etc.
- Certify that vendors are capable of meeting company quality standards. Issue a SCAR as necessary.
- Investigate process (quality) issues and resolve the issues based on “root cause” and issue a P/CAR as necessary.
- Ensure Field Service Reports (customer issues) generated from the Applications Engineering (Marketing Group) are resolved to a Corrective Action as rapidly as possible.
- Evaluate customer complaints from RMA’s and FSR’s, take an x-ray and provide initial technical reasons for each complaint.
- Conduct necessary tests on new and revised electrical protection devices such as High-Power Switches and other Electrical Control Panels.
- Build and maintain test equipment and custom set ups as required by Engineering or Marketing
- Maintain the calibration system and ensures all equipment requiring calibration whether mechanical and electrical is maintained and properly documented.
- Package and send out testing equipment for calibration.
- Set up new parts in JDE and lead ECO/ECR processes.
- Conduct incoming inspection, maintain records, write non-conformance reports if required, prepare and document deviation, waver and drawing distribution as needed.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections on product and complete the necessary paperwork, filing and entering necessary information into the system.
- Participate in design reviews, revisions of product specs, resolution of design problems as required.
- Analyse inspection results and identify improvement opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in the field of Process or Quality Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Quality Environment or similar role with similar responsibilities
- Knowledge of Statistical Tools, Continuous Improvement Methodology, ERP Systems, Drawing Control Systems and ISO Standards
- Experience in technical writing, reports, and preparation of Quality and Engineering Documents
- ISO 9001 auditor certification
- Experience on an ERP system an asset (JDE )
- Electrical panel job shop environment experience, preferred
- Ability to read drawings
- Knowledge of various testing procedures
- Excellent communication, organizational, administrative and leadership skills
- Good Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience
