We are hiring! SNC Lavalin is seeking a Project Manager/Study Manger to join our Mining & Metallurgy Team. This ideal candidate may be based out of any of the following locations: Salt Lake City, UT or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation assistance may be a negotiable benefit for this position.
How will you contribute to the team?
Prepare proposals for studies and plant engineering mandates and execute these in accordance with the project scope, budget, and schedule when awarded.
Develop and implement execution strategies.
Develop, coordinate, and maintain project schedules to ensure cost, quality, and schedule objectives are met.
Manage and control project budgets.
Prepare project forecasts.
Identify scope changes and request change orders in advance of performing work.
Using established project management tools, measure monthly the progress of projects to ensure budgets and schedules are being met and if necessary, take corrective action.
Ensure that reviews of documentation are carried out in accordance with the Project Instructions.
Prepare project status reports.
Ensure that interdisciplinary coordination is carried out in accordance with the Project Instructions.
Prepare engineering and construction work packages as required to support the execution of the project.
Initiate a prompt identification and correction for any engineering issues.
Oversee and manage the procurement requisition process and review bids and the tendering documents to ensure conformance with the project scope and technical specifications.
Develop, maintain, and coordinate all interfaces with client operations groups.
Ensure that suitable and sufficient staffing is available to meet the performance objectives of the projects.
Support the identification and prequalification of subcontractors.
Clearly communicate the engineering scope, including the technology and design information, to team members to meet project requirements.
Review drawings and develop scopes of work.
Manage subcontractors, including change management.
Establish and maintain a climate favorable to the application of ethical and professional best practices in the execution of the project engineering work.
What will you contribute?
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Registration as a Professional Engineer preferred, preferably in Utah, Nevada, and Arizona.
PMP certification preferred.
Minimum 10 years of related experience.
Previous experience managing studies.
Previous brownfield experience preferred.
Previous experience with copper, molybdenum, and other base and minor metals; precious and platinum group metals; lithium, and REEs preferred.
Site and/or operations / supervisory experience working in a mine, mineral processing plant, or copper smelter is an asset.
Working knowledge of capital cost estimation, planning, and cost control methods.
Proficiency in a variety of standard project management methods and techniques.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational, leadership, and collaborative skills.
Ability to meet assignment schedule and deliver quality deliverables under pressure.
Self-motivated and goal oriented.
Proficient with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proven time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
