The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the founder of House on the Rock Church, after a video surfaced showing him holding what appeared to be a stun gun during a roadside confrontation.
Following the video’s circulation on social media, Pastor Adefarasin voluntarily reported to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday, where he was questioned by investigators.
According to a statement released by the police, the object in question was recovered and identified as a stun gun — a non-lethal, anti-riot device considered prohibited under Nigerian law.
During the interrogation, the clergyman provided a cautionary statement to law enforcement officials. Police emphasized that although the device was not a conventional firearm, it is still classified as illegal for civilian possession in Nigeria.
“The item recovered was a stun gun, not a firearm, but it remains a prohibited device under current regulations,” the statement noted.
Pastor Adefarasin was granted bail shortly after the questioning, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion, following the viral video captured by a Lagos-based content creator known for filming luxury vehicles.
In the footage, Pastor Adefarasin is seen confronting another road user while brandishing the device, prompting public concern over the perceived threat.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm as they continue their inquiry into the matter, assuring that due process will be followed.
