Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Planner, PO3 Outfit and Completions.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:
- Education:
- Recognized Diploma in technical discipline (Engineering, Engineering Technology/Technician or similar) or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
- Lean/Six sigma White, Yellow, and Green Belts would be considered assets.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years working experience within a shipbuilding environment, preferably in a naval shipbuilding or repair environment
- Ability to employ critical thinking to solve complex problems and develop sustainable solutions.
- Interpretation of trade related drawings
- Strong communication and delivery
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Knowledge of ERP and PLM software would be considered an asset.
- Ability to understand and convey complex engineering information.
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a logically linked detail schedule (level 4) and production job packages that disseminate complex engineering information to a format that is easily digestible to the production resources, ensuring that all enabling constraints are aligned to the plan or forecasted to an acceptable date. This is executed utilizing 3D Model Assembly Planning Tool, assignment of Bill of Materials, Sequencing of Material and non-Material Jobs in line with build strategy, testing and completion requirements.
- Ensure that the detailed schedule logic and resource requirement is attainable through thorough capacity.
- analysis and work with stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment is captured between the construction schedule, testing schedule and parent IMS.
- Assign Resources, to the skill level, based on allocated budgets, and Norms.
- Work with Engineering, Pre-Production and Production personnel at all levels to Communicate schedules and requirements to stakeholders via schedule reviews, schedule delivery meetings to gain business buy-in
- Create Jobs Packages to enable Production to efficiency execute the work, including Engineering drawings sets, and applicable VFI, tooling, safety requirements etc.
- Continually develop planning processes and reports with the wider planning function to ensure that the organization evolves efficiently whilst meeting the business needs.
- Work with stakeholders to create and sell a common vision throughout the organization to ensure that there is sufficient buy in to the plan.
- Accountable in owning and developing planning within your assigned area with a Hands-on ownership and supportive mindset to the production system.
- Support the development of new planning resources.
