Job Description
Overview of Daily Duties:
Regularly completing pipeline right-of-way patrol and inspection to ensure integrity of the line and of right-of-way clearance. Inspecting pipeline vault for any damage, leak or unexpected conditions and performed small maintenance (shoveling, weed trimming,). Other duties may include interfacing with flight patrol to validate findings related to unauthorized work near pipelines, suspected leak situations as well as other basic ROW (Right of Way) maintenance such as ROW sign fault reporting and replacement.
Demonstrates well-developed Contractor Management Skills, which include:
- Managing onsite activities of maintenance / construction contractors including issuing Safe Work Permit.
- Ensures Close-out of applicable Maintenance Routes and Work Orders.
- Supports Construction / Project type work, participate in onsite visitations, gate reviews & pre-job planning meetings.
- Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal & communication skills when dealing with external 3rd-Parties, including but not limited to: Excavators, Utility Companies, Landowners and Regulatory Inspectors.
- Issues Prescribed Area Permits to external 3rd-Parties requiring access to ROW.
- Manages / performs locate requests and witnesses / oversees basic / routine 3rd-Party ROW Crossing activities as per Pre-approved Crossing Agreements.
- Manages / performs execution of TNPI’s ROW Inspection / Maintenance Program, including Signage & Vegetation Control.
- Actively supports Land Department community awareness communication programs designed to increase public awareness and eliminate unintended 3rd-Party line-strikes.
- Manages Aerial / Ground Patrols utilized to proactively mitigate unauthorized ground disturbances.
- Manages and performs valve vault inspections.
- Field Services ROW Maintenance Inspector’s primary job functions include: – manages / performs Locate Requests and witnesses / oversees 3rd-Party ROW Crossing activities as per Pre-approved Crossing Agreements.
- Interfaces with 3rd-Parties such as Contractors, adjacent Landowners, Industry Facility.
Qualifications
- Education: High school Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
- Must be comfortable driving.
- Successful candidate will have to complete Drug & Alcohol Testing, provide a clear Driver’s Abstract, complete a Criminal Background Check and provide 2 professional References.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week
- Experience: 0-1 years of relevant work experience required or equivalent experience through education.
- Previous experience in right-of-way patrol would be a strong asset.
- Experience with line locating (radio detection), understanding of gas detection, basic knowledge of using pumps and small engines (generators, weed whackers etc). would also be an asset.
- Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Office computer skills mandatory
- Sufficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual English and French.
- Must be comfortable working outside for entire shift
