Job Title: Architect
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Design Development:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, vision, and project goals.
- Create concept sketches, drawings, and architectural models to visualize and communicate design ideas effectively.
- Develop comprehensive design proposals that align with project constraints, regulations, and aesthetic preferences.
Project Planning:
- Conduct site analysis to assess the physical, environmental, and contextual factors that could impact the design.
- Prepare feasibility studies and cost estimates to guide project budgeting and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with engineers, urban planners, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive design approach.
Technical Expertise:
- Develop detailed architectural drawings, plans, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Ensure designs comply with local building codes, regulations, and zoning requirements.
- Integrate sustainable design principles to enhance energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
Client Collaboration:
- Maintain open communication with clients to gather feedback, address concerns, and update them on project progress.
- Present design concepts and proposals to clients, explaining design rationale and addressing questions.
Project Management:
- Oversee the project from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure construction aligns with design intent.
- Monitor construction progress, resolve design-related issues, and approve material and finish selections.
Quality Control:
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure that construction aligns with the design plans and specifications.
- Review and approve shop drawings, samples, and mock-ups to maintain design integrity.
Innovation and Research:
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging materials to integrate innovative solutions into projects.
- Apply creative problem-solving skills to address design challenges and create unique, functional spaces.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Project management skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and their implementation.
- Professional licensure as an architect (where required) or eligibility to pursue licensure.
- Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.).
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and zoning requirements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics.
Experience:
- Previous experience in architectural design, preferably with a portfolio showcasing a range of project types and scales.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, contractors, and consultants.
- Experience in managing all phases of a project, from concept design through construction administration.
