<p><b>Job description</b>: Nuru Nigeria is a local NGO with affiliates in the US, Kenya and Ethiopia, and is starting up operations in Nigeria. The mission is to end extreme poverty in remote rural communities. Nuru&#8217;s first involvement in Nigeria was established in 2017 and began work in 2018 in Adamawa State, Nigeria with the creation of Nuru Nigeria. The long-term goal of Nuru Nigeria is the establishment of a locally led, self-sustainable, Nigerian NGO which will continue to work with local rural communities indefinitely. We are recruiting to fill the position below:</p>
<p> Job Title: Human Resources Assistant<br />
 <br /> Location: Adamawa</p>
<p> <b>Job Summary</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>The HR Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources department.</li>
<li>This role assists in various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, record-keeping, and employee relations.</li>
<li>The HR Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate employee information, facilitating communication between HR and employees, and ensuring compliance with organisation policies and procedures in line with government laws.</li>
<li>S/he will manage the full complement of the HR services for all Nuru Nigeria Programmes.</li>
</ul>
<p> <b>Key Responsibilities</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>Assist in ensuring staff compliance with human resources polices, based on Operations Handbook and HR Handbook.</li>
<li>Assist with general employee processes such as hiring, recruiting, conducting background checks and assist in communicating with interview candidates and scheduling for tests and interviews.</li>
<li>Assist in the drafting of Employee contracts, Letters, Memos and development of HR related templates.</li>
<li>Ensure proper tracking of leave by ensuring that leave trackers are updated on a regular basis.</li>
<li>Contribute towards ensuring new employees receive an appropriate orientation and induction.</li>
<li>Ensure clearance and debriefing is carried out for exiting staffs.</li>
<li>Continually learning the latest and best HR practices to improve workplace efficiency.</li>
<li>Monitor staff attendance and ensure that all staff time sheets are submitted and filed on time.</li>
<li>Responsible for ensuring personnel files are accurate, complete, and up to date.</li>
<li>Assist in effective performance management and administer the collation of performance management documentation.</li>
<li>Support in championing employee relations and welfare Management schemes within the organization.</li>
<li>Support the Human Resources &; Admin Manager in staff development activities including promoting a learning catalogue, identifying training needs and researching training opportunities</li>
<li>Perform any other duties as directed by the Human Resources and Administrative Manager.</li>
</ul>
<p> <b>Qualification and Experience</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).</li>
<li>At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role- NGO/INGO Experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Gdrive and HRIS.</li>
<li>Sound knowledge of office practices, procedures and administrative systems.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the local language (Hausa) &#8211; will be an added advantage.</li>
<li>Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Nuru Nigeria policies and procedures.</li>
</ul>
<p> <b>Competencies and Skills:</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>Familiar with general Human Resources Management tasks.</li>
<li>Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.</li>
<li>Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Understanding of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.</li>
<li>Strong organizational and meticulous skills to ensure accuracy on processes and manage tasks efficiently.</li>
<li>Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.</li>
<li>Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment and handle changing priorities.</li>
<li>High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.</li>
<li>Strong organizational and multitasking skills.</li>
