Darwin Nunez is emerging as one of this summer’s hottest transfer prospects, with Napoli and Atletico Madrid both preparing bids for the out-of-favour Liverpool striker.

Despite flashes of brilliance since his €85 million move from Benfica, the 25-year-old has struggled for consistency at Anfield, netting just seven times across all competitions this season.

With Liverpool crowned Premier League champions, Nunez’s peripheral role has further reinforced speculation that the club may be ready to cash in.

Italian reports indicate that Napoli are seriously evaluating Nunez as they prepare for life without Victor Osimhen, while Atletico Madrid view him as a natural fit in Diego Simeone’s high-intensity system.

Interest is also reportedly building from River Plate and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Slot has dismissed suggestions that Nunez was benched to avoid triggering a £5 million bonus to Benfica based on starts, but the optics remain clear.

The Uruguayan is no longer central to Liverpool’s plans.

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has been identified as a top target to lead a revamped attack.
