Nigerians have filed a class action lawsuit against popular network provider MTN over alleged rapid data depletion and false data top-ups.
The move gained attention after a post surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), where a user expressed interest in joining any legal action against MTN.
“Too happy & available to join a class action against MTN Nigeria,” he wrote, attaching a screenshot that appeared to show unexplained data usage.
Shortly after the post gained traction, a link to a Google Form was shared, allowing other affected users to join the lawsuit.
The form reads in part: “This class action lawsuit addresses the victims of MTN, a network provider, who have experienced issues with false data top-ups and rapid data drainage.”
It continued: “As a result, many Nigerians are spending money without receiving adequate value in return, especially when compared to the proper use of data and costs in other countries.”
As the post circulated widely, many Nigerians flooded the comment section, sharing similar experiences and expressing support for the legal action.
