Nigerian actress and singer, Descushiel, has publicly apologized for forgetting the lyrics while singing the National Anthem at an official event.
Descushiel, who was dressed as a police officer, was invited to sing the National Anthem at the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Imo State on Monday, October 30.
However, the singer failed to meet expectations as she kept messing up the lyrics during the event, which was broadcasted live on various TV stations.
A short clip of her performance was shared online and drew a wave of criticism, with many chastising her for not adequately preparing for the event.

In response to the backlash, the singer has now offered a public apology to Nigerians for forgetting the lyrics in a video posted on her Instagram page.
Her words,
“I want to sincerely apologize to the Nigeria Police Force and citizens of this great nation and also dignitaries that were present at the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers held on the 30th of October in Imo state. I want to say I acknowledged and understand the importance of the National Anthem and I am deeply sorry, I regret that I fell short in upholding the respect and reverence that it deserves.”
