
The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of popular movie director, Rotimi Raji, also known as Genius.
According to reports, the filmmaker slumped and died in his bathroom just a day after the Valentine’s Day celebration.
Genius, who lived alone in the Baruwa, Ipaja area of Lagos, was discovered by a concerned neighbor who had repeatedly called out to him without getting a response.
Upon noticing that one of his windows was open, the neighbour peeped inside and was met with the tragic sight of Raji’s lifeless body on the floor.
Confirming the sad news, actor Lanre Adediwura took to social media to mourn the late director, writing:
“Till we meet again my friend, @rotimiraji. Thank you for blessing the film industry with your exceptional talent. Every moment you captured with the lens will speak after you. Rest on, champ 💔💔💔.”

Raji was known for his creative direction and cinematography, contributing significantly to Nollywood’s storytelling through his work behind the camera. His passing has left colleagues and fans heartbroken as tributes continue to pour in.
