Based in: Edmonton, AB. Additional locations include: Vancouver, BC, Calgary, AB and Toronto, ON
Hybrid work environment
Full time: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
The opportunity
The Content Marketing Specialist plays a meaningful role in the planning and execution of Canadian Western Bank’s coordinated marketing communications strategy through external channels. This role has a specialized focus on CWB’s website and social media channels.
Reporting the Manager, External Communications this individual will contribute to the planning, creation, execution, and evaluation of overall content strategy.
The day-to-day
Communications. Content. Initiatives. Coordination. Execution.
Leverage and evaluate CWB’s client personas, journeys, needs, wants and opportunities to create and align content types; selects appropriate tools and channels for distribution
Plan and execute monthly editorial calendars and content marketing initiatives to create educational, informative and entertaining material for CWB’s website and social media platforms; reports on performance.
Develop and maintain a proficient understanding of CWB’s audiences, products, and services.
Monitor social media channels and online reviews and respond to inbound comments and messages in collaboration with the marketing team to build and maintain the CWB brand.
Contribute to the marketing team’s wider goals and objectives by applying creative thinking, problem-solving and innovation
Build collaborative relationships with internal partners and external vendors, including creative teams, to provide strategic advice, develop strategies and implement tactics for CWB’s client audiences.
Complete and provide copywriting support for client e-newsletters, marketing campaigns, webpages, and webinar promotional material.
Inspire trust by being open, honest, and direct in communication.
Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from
Diploma or Degree in Public Relations, Marketing or Communications
Minimum 5-years related experience in marketing and communications in an agency or corporate environment, with a focus on client-side content marketing initiatives
Experience in brand journalism as well as social media content creation and execution.

Has the ability to produce successful content for various mediums (e.g.,. social media, email, video, podcast, digital articles, webpages)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media management platforms
Experience with content managements systems is an asset
Familiarity with the financial services sector, banking products and regulatory requirements related to advertising and promotion will be an asset.
Has the ability to manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
Makes decisions based on research, data and sound business judgement
Has outstanding organizational skills, time management skills and applies a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Balances analytical and problem-solving skills with creative thinking
