Working with the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Manager is responsible for the Estee Lauder brand in Canada this role will focus on the planning and execution of all marketing programs and plans; ensuring alignment with the North America marketing objectives to increase sales, grow market share and improve profitability.
As the marketplace continues to evolve, this role and any decision-making must reflect a comprehensive understanding of the changing consumer, customer landscape and media environment and how the brand evolves with each.
The Marketing Manager will:
1. Manage the Product, Trade and Consumer marketing activities for the brand
2. Build and maintain close Retailer relationships and work with the Director of Marketing to create a program cadence for each retail partner
3. Build and maintain close relationships with Canadian and NOAM counterparts and interdepartmental teams to ensure alignment with NOAM strategy and planning
4. Be an analytical and strategic thinker to balance program planning and execution with post program reporting and analysis
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Product Marketing:
- Working closely with the Marketing Director and Planning team, align to forecasts for all new initiatives – launch and promotional
- Responsible for planning, forecasting, and monthly management of all sample, collateral, and non-saleable promotional forecasts
- Liaise with both local and NOAM Planning and Operations teams to ensure consistent follow-up on all projects for on-time shipment of collateral, samples and promotional materials to support marketing programs
- Leverage available NPD data to develop and form strategic decisions
- Partner with Marketing Director on category reviews for the pertinent segments of business which involves thorough research on Canadian trends, competition, and consumer dynamics. Requires analysis, identification of opportunities and strategic recommendations
- Point person for category information: pricing and competitive analysis
- Support the Marketing Director in the analysis and execution of annual price increase
- Oversee the revision of seasonal order forms
- Work with Corporate Visual Team, NOAM and global counterparts to plan, brief, produce and deliver Visual merchandising assets as required for new launches and new door openings – creating locally when required
Trade Marketing:
- Primary liaison with NOAM Marketing team to align strategies and leverage programming where appropriate and applicable
- Participate in all NOAM Marketing calls to ensure a timely flow of information on U.S. strategies and any updates/changes that will affect/impact Canadian planning
- Partner with retailers to develop and implement trade marketing programs specific to their environment – requires knowledge of retailer levers, loyalty programs, COOP programs, VIP opportunities, etc
- Leverage Retailer CRM data to understand consumer insights and make strategic decisions
- Support and participate in all Retail Partner meetings/calls to align and track upcoming event, promo, launch, advertising information and support
- Review and approve all Retailer COOP advertising programs in conjunction with Marketing Director
- Maintain tracking results from campaigns and events
- Create an ROI tracking system
- Manage Retail calendars
- Create Seasonal Presentations for both Retailers & Field
- Support weekly calls with local Field Sales and other cross functional teams to manage communication flow and updates
Consumer Marketing:
- Support Marketing Director on national media strategy and briefings; collaborate with Corporate Consumer Engagement Team and NOAM ECOM on business insights and alignment
- Primary program lead for media agency partner for day-to-day projects
- Responsible for all upper funnel programs, including creation of localized assets and upload to support media plans
- Manage retailer co-op programs with the collaboration & support of the ecommerce team
- Work closely with the Marketing Director and PR Team on related activities and initiatives for the market
Finance:
- Manage and maintain planning and monthly tracking of Fiscal budget, including working with finance and retailers to confirm spend, deductions, accuracy, etc
- Reconcile month end charges with Marketing Director to ensure accuracy of the budget and latest estimates
Market Engagement:
- Maintain current awareness of competitive activity in the retail environment, through print, digital and social platforms
Awareness of digital & social media executions for the brand and those engaged within the brand (i.e., EMV etc.)
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma required
- 5+ years relevant work experience; preferably in the cosmetic /prestige industry
- Excellent team player with the ability to build, foster and nurture relationships
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with un-prompted follow-through
- Possesses strong digital and social media skills with a strong understanding of media planning best practices
- Consumer-first, data-driven mindset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex ideas and processes in a simplified manner
- Possesses strong skills in strategy and planning, budget management, merchandising, and marketing
- Creative, analytical thinker and creative problem solver and thrive in fast paced environment
- Experience with Specialty Multi Channel (Sephora/Shoppers Drug Mart) preferred
