Manchester United have opted to retain Joshua Zirkzee while preparing to part ways with Rasmus Hojlund, per multiple reports from Italy.
The Red Devils, under Ruben Amorim, are pushing for a leaner, more efficient squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and sources from Corriere dello Sport suggest the club have chosen to move forward with Zirkzee, who arrived last season for £36.5 million.
Hojlund, signed for £72 million from Atalanta, has struggled to meet expectations and is now firmly in the crosshairs of Inter Milan.
The Serie A champions are said to be advancing “at full speed” to sign the Danish forward, with talks ongoing both in Milan and remotely from the US, where Inter are currently competing in the Club World Cup.
United reportedly prefer a permanent deal valued between £34m–£38m, while Inter are pushing for a loan with an obligation to buy in 2026, a structure United are yet to accept.
Hojlund, under contract until 2028, is believed to be open to the move, keen on a return to Italy.
Meanwhile, Manchester United continue to pursue a marquee forward, with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen now their top target following a failed approach for Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres.
