A Nigerian man has shared his harrowing 17-day ordeal in the captivity of Fulani herdsmen, revealing he was forced to pay a ₦10 million ransom for his release.
The account was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where the man’s face was visible as he recounted his experience.

Speaking in his native Igbo language, he detailed the inhumane treatment he endured during the abduction.
Despite all he went through, his captors still demanded a ₦10 million ransom before letting him go.
As the post circulated online, many concerned users flooded the comment section to express their thoughts and reactions.
See some reactions below:
@grind_charts: “₦10M paid, no arrests made. Man survives hell, yet govt still sleeps. If this was oil pipeline, troops go land sharp. But for human lives? Just press statements.”
@feel_NN: “Dear Nigerian youths, arm yourselves and defend your communities. SE youths, it is time to chase kidnappers out of Enugu and Ebonyi communities and indeed every bush they operate in AlaIgbo. This govt. is busy enjoying kidnapper’s tik tok videos.
@ItzOfficial_Rex: “This guys are getting away with whatever they do to people even if it means killing people and they still get away with it.”
@gentlebjgiant: “If you are wise enough, go get your own protection. Even a small 9 MM is fine. Whenever they try to kidnap you again, kill all of them.”
@BLOSSOM4GOOD: “Still Uche Okoye and co are still diverting the attention of his deluded followers from the reality on ground just because of political gig.”
@AyodejiPeter16: “Absolutely no government in this country, only clowns pretending and seriously dramatising individuals who actually hate its citizens are in existence.”
