A Nigerian man has reportedly called off his marriage just three days before the ceremony after discovering that his fiancée lied to him about her whereabouts.
This was revealed in a post shared on a popular social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), by user @Choji_ES.
According to the post, the man spotted his fiancée at the market and decided to call her phone. When he asked where she was, she claimed to be at home.
Upset by the dishonesty, the man allegedly canceled their upcoming wedding, stating that he couldn’t marry someone who lies.
The post read: “Three days to their wedding, this man saw his fiancée in the market, called her, and she lied that she was at home. He canceled the wedding, saying he couldn’t marry a liar. Is this enough reason?”
As the story spread online, it sparked mixed reactions, with many users flooding the comment section to share their opinions.
See some reactions below:
@Prestigious_Gt: “Yes 💯She will eventually cheat on him if she has not been cheating before sef. Then again I clock that no lady is 100% honest. It’s in their nature.”
@1900flour: “What u don’t want you don’t watch. Red flag are not decorations.”
@PGaelefaith: “Who knows maybe the man had insecurity issues and the girl was avoiding problems.”
@Greatpeter02: “The reason wasn’t enough. He should have made a proper findings before taking such decision. If he truly love her at first, he won’t take such decisions.”
@Ayomitidipo: “Could it be that she was going to be at home in a short while and was hoping to see him, hence why she “lied”? He saw her in a market, not hotel… So, Is there more context to this? Did he probe enough to conclude she can’t be trusted?”
@Jidekuje: “More than enough reason if you ask me. What you tolerate during courtship would happen at an exponential rate when you eventually marry.”
@BbwMaturity: “Very valid reason. The lie was too blatant. Imagine what else she would lie about in the marriage.”
