A Nigerian man has accused the police of releasing the suspects responsible for his brother‘s death and demanding over ₦150,000 from him to arrest the prime suspect.
This was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where the man detailed the tragic circumstances surrounding his brother’s death.
According to him, his brother was killed by his friends, and while two suspects were initially arrested, one police officer secretly released them without informing the family.
When the family reported the incident again, the police appeared to take action and promised justice, making additional arrests.
However, the police informed them that the prime suspect was still at large and required further efforts to apprehend.
The family provided all available information, including the suspect’s name, phone number, and social media details.
To the family’s shock, the police allegedly demanded ₦150,000 to aid in the suspect’s arrest, claiming the money would be used to track him down.
The man shared his frustration, saying: “My brother was killed by his friends. A group of people conspired to kill my brother, then fled. A police officer released them without our knowledge.”
“We reported the case to the police, who promised justice. They initially made arrests, but the main suspect is still on the run. When we gave them more information, they started asking for money to help with the investigation.”
“We provided all the details, including his phone number and social media. But instead of action, the police demanded ₦150,000 to bring him from Uyo.”
The man also expressed disbelief over the police’s knowledge of the suspect’s activities, including details of the house he is building, and questioned why they were unable to arrest him despite this information. Instead, the police continued to ask the family for money.
