A Nigerian lady has shared a heartbreaking story of how she diligently saved her entire NYSC allowance along with a portion of her salary to fund her U.S. master’s degree application—only to have her visa denied.
In a post shared on her social media page, she revealed that during her service year, she never touched her NYSC monthly stipend.
Instead, she added ₦200 from her salary each month to round up her savings to ₦20,000.
According to her, she used the accumulated money to cover expenses such as application fees, transcript submissions, and other related costs for her U.S. master’s program.
“Every single dime was wasted,” she lamented. “I cried ehn.”
Her story has since sparked emotional reactions from users who flooded the comment section with words of empathy and shared experiences.
