Kevin De Bruyne is on the brink of signing a three-year contract with Serie A champions Napoli as a free agent.
The 32-year-old’s deal with Manchester City expires on June 30, ending a trophy-laden spell in England.
While he has received offers from clubs in Major League Soccer, notably Chicago Fire, De Bruyne is said to prefer a move to Naples, influenced by both footballing ambitions and personal ties to the region, including his wedding in nearby Sorrento.
According to transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, Napoli’s proposal includes a €6 million net annual salary for the first two seasons, reducing to €5 million in the third.
While that represents a pay cut from his current wages at City, it is offset by a €10 million signing-on fee, as reported by Sportitalia.
The Belgian playmaker would arrive at Napoli as a marquee signing following their Serie A title win and Champions League qualification.
The deal is expected to be announced imminently, with Italian outlets including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia confident that De Bruyne will commit to the Partenopei.
