Real Madrid academy product Jacobo Ramon was the unlikely hero on Wednesday night, scoring a dramatic 95th-minute winner to seal a 2-1 victory over Mallorca and keep Los Blancos’ La Liga hopes mathematically alive for now.

With Barcelona on the verge of sealing the title, anything less than a win would have handed them the crown.

Mallorca struck early through Martin Valjent, capitalizing on defensive chaos to fire past Thibaut Courtois.

Madrid pressed for an equalizer, with Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, and Luka Modric all denied by a strong Mallorca back line.

The breakthrough came after the break, with Mbappé rifling home his 40th goal of the season.

The Frenchman continued to menace, nearly grabbing a second in the 86th minute, only to see Valjent clear off the line.

Substitute Gonzalo Garcia missed a glaring chance from close range moments later.

Just when it seemed Madrid’s title bid would end in frustration, Ramon, making his first La Liga start, latched onto a loose ball in the box and coolly volleyed home, sending the Santiago Bernabéu into temporary celebration.

Despite the win, Madrid’s fate remains out of their hands. Barcelona can clinch the title with victory over Espanyol on Thursday. Still, for Jacobo Ramon, the night was unforgettable.
