Why is this role important?
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Technology Services, the Informatica Administrator provides daily administrative and development support for the ETL toolset and Informatica Administrator provides technical expertise & recommendations to management relating to the ETL usage strategy. Provides consulting support to ITS development and operations staff as well as business areas and formulate policies and procedures relating to Informatica application development and management. Maintains the optimal performance of ETL business intelligence applications, performance monitoring, capacity planning and tuning.
What you’ll do
1. Supports the Information Security Management System (ISMS) through the implementation, management and/or monitoring of required Information Security controls and participates in key ISMS processes as required, including but not limited to Risk Management, Audit and Assessment, Monitoring and Reporting and Record Management.
2. Ensures Informatica platform availability, including:
- Product installation and hardening, version upgrades, patch management, daily system monitoring, usage reporting
- Security/user authentication and management
- ETL project/object promotion through development, UAT and production environments
- ETL Project setup
- Creates data connectors
- Server performance tuning
- Establishes LDAP authentication
- Troubleshoots Informatica, EMR cluster integration
3. Provides recommendations to management on environment design and architecture strategies for a sustainable and scale environment.
4. Provides cross-training, support and knowledge transfer to ITS development/ maintenance teams and business areas.
5. Leads and coordinates the resolution of Informatica-related technical issues in a time-sensitive/priority-sensitive manner.
6. Designs, implements and administers Informatica security.
7. Develops relationships with vendor (Informatica) and maintains vendor relationships (including acquiring new patches, software upgrades, license maintenance and promoting industry best practices).
8. Works closely with Linux/DBB Administrators relating to performance tuning, upgrades and archive strategy.
9. Develops and documents policies and procedures for Informatica system processes and maintains and documents Informatica related data profiles/engineering and architecture.
10. Maintains current knowledge of advancements in the latest Informatica technologies.
What you’ll bring to the table
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years Data Warehousing knowledge and experience in an Oracle and AWS EMR, data lake environment; and a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Informatica Administrator.
- Solid knowledge of various Informatica products such as DEI, EDC, Axon, MDM, IDQ.
- Experience with installing, configuring, tuning, upgrading, patching hotfixes, EBF on Informatica server and cluster.
- Informatica security administration experience.
- Solid knowledge of SQL (both programming and tuning).
- Strong application development background.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and oral. With the ability to communicate effectively with users, management, and technical staff.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Works well under pressure and can prioritize competing issues appropriately.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
- Ability to work in fast-paced multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to work as a team player and leader.
- Must be able to work after hours/weekends and on call.
- MicroStrategy certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, the CIHI environment and program areas is an asset.
- Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
