Job description: Our client produces high quality irrigation products for home owners, landscapers and agricultural markets to promote responsible water use worldwide.
In the last 18 months, our client has acquired two additional businesses in the USA, which has increased their group revenue by 150% and they have an aggressive plan for significant growth for the next 5-10 years.
We are seeking a talented General Manager to join their team.
This position is responsible for managing our client’s USA businesses in consultation with the Group General Manager.
Our client’s office is located in Arvada, Denver, Colorado. Salary $200,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the financial performance of USA businesses including sales performance, expense control and profitability.
- With advice and consultation from the Group General Manager, administer the policies of the USA Business Units and achieve their strategic objectives.
- Establish and maintain high standards of customer and public relations through direct and delegated contact. Develop a strong customer service focus, providing leadership and direction assisting the Sales Team to develop, promote and sustain new and existing business relationships.
- Coordinate the activities of departments to obtain operational efficiency and economy and make decisions in those areas for which the Group General Manager and Directors have expressly designated the decision-making authority.
- Adopt full responsibility for maintaining a positive tone for the Group, building its image within the irrigation industry, and for helping to maintain an effective system of communication throughout all business and departments in the USA and Australia.
- Implement the approved system of business reporting practices and ensure that the performance of the USA Business Units can be concisely identified to the Group General Manager and Directors. On a regular basis, review, appraise and report the status of the USA Business Units to the Group General Manager in relation to sales revenue, expenditure, profitability, stock levels, and employee and customer status. This will include weekly sales statistics and full monthly reports of all departments.
- Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to all employees of the USA operations in terms of communications, relationships, and ethical conduct; maintain a professional and homogeneous workplace environment; and provide opportunities for employees to discuss and solve their workplace problems. Act as a liaison for communication and information between the Group General Manager, Directors, and USA Business Unit’s employees.
- Oversee and control all departments within the organization, including their resource needs, system and procedures and expenditure against budget, taking appropriate action to correct any deficiencies.
- Assist in the preparation of expense budgets jointly with the Group General Manager.
- Have pricing, distribution, and related sales and promotional activities approved by the Group General Manager to achieve the highest possible margin while achieving maximum competitive advantage. No pricing other than that approved by Group General Manager may be offered to any customer.
- Maintain strict compliance with all State and Federal fiduciary, statutory, environmental, and regulatory agencies, and requirements.
- Administer Payroll and approved Employee benefit schemes and maintain confidentiality.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment is maintained and that the employees and the USA Business Units meet statutory obligations for health and safety in the workplace.
- Maintain open communication with the Group General Manager in all matters.
Requirements
- Preferred graduate degree in Management, Business and or Sales & Marketing
- A proven track record of 5 to 10 years of sound management experience.
- Experience in injection molding is favorable.
- Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing company is preferred.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and be highly motivated.
- Maintain a persuasive and credible presentation style.
- Computer skills in Microsoft 365 and ERP software are essential.
- Possess highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills supported by sound business acumen to assess the needs of the customers.
- Demonstrate good organisational skills and possess high level oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Must have a current Drivers License.
