The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed that Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa’s efforts to mediate between Rabiu Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Ganduje are driven by Kwankwaso’s desire to rejoin the APC.
According to the party, reconciling the former Kano governors, as suggested by Kofa, is merely a political ploy, as they see no need to align with Kwankwaso.
Ahmad S. Aruwa, the APC spokesperson in Kano, made this known during an interview with Hikima Radio in Kano.
According to reports, Ganduje, the APC National Chairman, and Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have had ongoing political disputes.
Aruwa alleged that Kwankwaso’s intention to return to the APC is aimed at regaining control of the party from its current leadership. He further accused Kwankwaso of past betrayals, citing how he forced Malam Ibrahim Shekarau to switch from the APC to the PDP and betrayed the party during their time in the PDP.
“Considering Kofa’s attempt to highlight the achievements and positions of Kwankwaso and Ganduje, it’s evident that he lacks the significance to mediate peace between them,” Aruwa stated.
He emphasized that if reconciliation were to take place, it should be mediated by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, not Kofa.
