Job title: Finance Controller – Trading Business – CA (7-10 yrs)

Job description: A leading trading client of VNR Advisory is looking for an experienced finance professional for a diversified Nigerian group. S/He will report to the CEO and will be based at the company’s head office in Lagos, Nigeria.
The key responsibilities will include:
– Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Revenue Recognition and Payroll
– Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
– Monitoring bank facilities, borrowings and credit planning
– Accounts and finance of the company. Legal compliances, taxation and statutory requirements
– Regulatory requirements, board meetings and company law compliances
– Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
– Responsible for monthly/quarterly/yearly closing of books of financial accounts
– Operational efficiency levels and internal control measures for accounting processes
– Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
– Consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, balance sheet etc.) taking into account company’s goals and highlight any risks
– Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
– Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
– Liaise with auditors during statutory and tax audit and while preparing the final accounts of the Company
– Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
– Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
– Receive, prepare, verify and submit the required documentation to the regulatory bodies in a timely and accurate manner
– Preparing project profit and loss account/job cost analysis after completion of orders/project
– Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
– Manage the work and development of finance/accounts staff
– Responsible for compliance with ISO system for business process
– Responsible for Finance staff recruitment and appraisals
– The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
To be successful in the role, the incumbent must:
– be a certified Chartered Accountant
– have at least 7 years of total experience with last 2 in Nigeria
– deep understanding of the trading industry in Nigeria
– good communication skills
