Job Summary
The System Architect Expert is the accountable architect to all IT Stakeholders (*) to define & recommend a sound End to End architecture that will support the Business needs and aligned with the IT directions & standards, and to ensure that the solution defined gets implemented per definition, especially in the context of Mainframe and Legacy Systems Modernization. The end to end architecture encompasses all architecture layers: Business, application, information and technology (see appendix).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities
Evaluate
· Assess the current state of legacy systems in scope
· Finalize future state architecture of the legacy systems
· Implement the roadmap for legacy modernization as per the defined priorities and dependencies
· Plan and drive architecture activities required to deliver it
· Analyse and have good understanding of requirements and provide estimates for design, and development of required functionality
Provide direction & lead
· Drive alignment with the Enterprise & Domain strategies, master plans & roadmaps.
· Handle risk mitigation and drive issue escalation and resolution related to the architecture
· Ensure the architecture is understood by the designers and I&T integrators that will design the solution per the architecture specifications
· Lead simultaneous initiatives
Sign-off on proposed Solution
· Confirm the end-to-end solution proposed meets business needs and is aligned with the Architecture, Security and I&T Operation standards
· Confirm I&T stakeholders support the solution or waivers for non-compliancy
Requirements
Experience
· Minimum 15 years of experience in Information and Technology
· Minimum 10 years of overall work experience
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role and demonstrating technical leadership qualities or overseeing deliverables
*Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Skills/Knowledge
· Experience in large-scale legacy / mainframe modernization programs
· Strong understanding of domain-driven design approach based on business capability model
· The role requires people skills to influence and orient business and technical audience toward a common goal that is satisfying all stakeholders
· Capable in building collaborative cross functional relationships, pulling together and maintaining a cohesive and high functioning team
· Experience working with multi-culture, distributed offshore and onshore development teams in dynamic and complex environment
· Capable to lead team on a mandate and to lead decisions
· Capable of building and safekeeping integrity and credibility among all solution’s stakeholders (Business & IT)
· Ability to deliver mandate with great autonomy – self-driven
· Strong ability at taking hard decisions by understanding and explaining trade-offs between business enablement and economics impacts
· Strong Architecture knowledge within numerous fields: Business, systems, Application, Information and technology architecture facets
· Strong ability to bring complex concept to actionable architecture deliverable
· Strong capacity to learn new concepts and technology quickly with the capacity to coach, mentor and develop other in learning them
· Excellent written and oral communications skills
Experience
· 15+ years experience in IT and 5+ years in similar role
· Experience in CICS, JCL and DB2
