Job Description
The trucking driver recruiter is tasked with identifying, attracting, and hiring Class 1 tractor-trailer and container drayage drivers. This role involves understanding the unique requirements and challenges of the trucking industry, promoting the company’s benefits, and ensuring a steady influx of qualified drivers to meet operational needs.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement recruiting strategies tailored for Class 1 tractor-trailer and container drayage drivers.
- Post job openings on relevant platforms, attend job fairs, and use networking techniques to reach potential drivers.
- Screen and interview applicants to evaluate their qualifications, experience, and fit for the company.
- Coordinate with operations and HR teams to understand current and forecasted hiring needs.
- Promote the company’s compensation packages, benefits, and opportunities for growth to potential hires.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations during the recruitment process.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, compensation rates, and competitors’ offerings.
- Collaborate with training teams to ensure new hires undergo proper onboarding and training processes.
- Track and report on recruiting metrics, such as applicant source, time-to-hire, and cost-per-hire.
- Address concerns and questions from potential hires, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the job expectations and company culture.
Qualifications

- Previous experience in recruitment, preferably within the trucking industry.
- Strong understanding of the specific requirements and challenges faced by Class 1 tractor-trailer and container drayage drivers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to sell the company’s value proposition to potential hires.
- Familiarity with recruiting platforms and tools tailored for the transportation sector.
- Knowledge of transportation and hiring regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Awareness of Public Safety and Security measures in place to prevent injuries.
