Why we need a Director of Website Experience
To date, we’ve been highly successful in our acquisition strategy and have tremendous room to scale. Well into our third year of operation, WorkMoney is well positioned to create a long term strategy to manage and maintain a dynamic website as a gateway to all that the WorkMoney brand has to offer. The Director of Website Experience will hit the ground running to drive more Americans – members and the general public alike – to our recently relaunched website and be the internal expert on leveraging the website to make American life more affordable. This is an exciting role for a versatile web marketing and communications professional in an environment unlike any other for-profit or non-profit out there!

What the Director of Website Experience will do
We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on, and motivated Director of Website Experience to lead our website strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, design, functionality, content creation, and overall performance of our organization’s website, workmoney.org. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring a seamless user experience, driving online engagement, and achieving our digital marketing and member / visitor experience objectives.
Responsibilities
- Website Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive website strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and brand aspirations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define website objectives, target audiences, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Audience Experience and Optimization:
- Utilize analytics data to identify opportunities for user experience improvements and optimize the website for better navigation, responsiveness, load times, and flow for funnel conversion.
- Implement SEO strategies (content & technical) to increase organic traffic and improve search engine rankings.
- Content Management, Strategy and Development:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage the website’s content management system (CMS) and ensure all content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with the brand’s messaging and multiple campaign channel plans. Serve as ‘trainer’ to other members of the marketing team on how to properly input content for ongoing campaign landing pages.
- Work with the Digital Innovation product team for development of new content landing page templates when needed and communication of requirements.
- Strategic Direction for Website Development and Design:
- Provide strategic direction to inform the design and layout of the website to enhance user experience and align with the brand’s visual identity.
- Oversee the timely delivery of website updates/enhancements and creation of engaging and relevant content across all web pages.
- Digital Marketing Integration:
- Collaborate with peers among marketing team partners to integrate online marketing campaigns, promotions, and lead generation strategies into the website.
- Develop campaign landing pages that align with marketing initiatives, paid ad campaigns, and email/SMS communications.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Partner with Member Engagement, Policy, Brand Growth & Acquisition, and PR teams. Examples include:
- Work closely with the SMS and email marketing teams to ensure seamless integration of website content and promotions into various campaigns.
- Support the brand growth and acquisition team by creating optimized landing pages that enhance the user journey and maximize conversion rates.
- Analytics, User Testing, and A/B Testing:
- Regularly analyze website performance data to gain insights into user behavior, trends, conversion rate optimization, and areas for improvement.
- Plan and conduct user testing and A/B testing to optimize user experience, conversion rates, and engagement.
- Partner with software engineer for technical maintenance:
- Oversee website hosting, security, and server-related matters, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with external vendors to troubleshoot technical issues and implement necessary updates or fixes.
What we’re looking for in a candidate
We’re looking for someone ready to roll up their sleeves and jump in on a range of exciting tasks. Our website has evolved a ton in the last three years, during which the responsibilities for the site have been disparately owned by multiple members of the team, spread across the organization. We’re looking for a candidate who can step into this newly created centralized role, demonstrate keen curiosity about where we’ve been, and develop the strategy and infrastructure that enables multiple cross functional stakeholders to engage with the website in ways that advance the organization’s ambitious agenda.
Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (7+ years) in web design, development, content creation, and management, with a portfolio showcasing successful website projects.
- Working knowledge of content strategy, web design principles, user experience best practices, and responsive design.
- Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
- Familiarity with SEO techniques, keyword research, and on-page optimization strategies.
- Experience with user testing, A/B testing, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The salary for this role is $140,000 annually and as part of our commitment to pay transparency and equity in our organization, the starting salary for this position is not negotiable.
