Job Summary:
Under moderate direction, designs, develops or redesigns new or existing products. Works from requirements or instructions to develop and design new components or redesign existing components to improve the organization’s products. Supports control board design with inverters for Stellantis xEV powertrain applications. Acts as a resource for less experienced professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead Control Board Design Engineer for inverters, supporting Stellantis.
- Physical seating for this position will be on-site at a customer building in Auburn Hills, MI, as a full time resident.
- Utilizes computer-aided engineering tools in order to create, change and issue component, system and assembly drawings. Creates product dimensioning and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Reviews customer’s requirements and specifications for product(s) and identifies issues and changes, where appropriate. Converts customer technical requirements to detailed product requirements.
- Conducts design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable. Selects and tests materials, ingredients or components that will be suitable for the product. Develops innovative ways to increase the recycling of materials and decrease the carbon footprint of manufactured products as designed.
- Plans and performs design engineering duties for part of a major project or completes projects of moderate complexity. Communicates with other engineering personnel to coordinate interrelated design and ensure project completion.
- Fabricates or coordinates fabrication initial mockup and initial test samples as needed. Documents, reviews and approves information obtained from product testing. Perfects engineering designs based upon testing results.
- Analyzes the results of customer warranty, manufacturing and validation test failures to redesign current products to improve performance.
- Composes test and technical reports. Delivers simple or routine presentations.
- Analyzes current processes, procedures and systems and makes recommendations for improvement for own job. May implement improvements.
- May provide work instructions to technicians and less experienced engineers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

- Fundamental knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Fundamental knowledge of welding, plating, die-casting, injection molding, stamping/cold forming, heat treatment process, fastener torque and other related skills
- Ability to effectively apply the PDCA process to identify potential process improvements

Annual Salary: $85,000-$106,000
