Cristiano Ronaldo Jr has received his first international call-up from Portugal, marking the beginning of what could be a historic journey for the 14-year-old forward.
Following a string of standout performances in the Al-Nassr youth ranks, the son of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Portugal’s U15 squad.
His selection opens the possibility, however distant, of one day sharing the pitch with his father for the national team.
Ronaldo Sr, still playing at a high level for Al-Nassr at 40, responded to the news on Instagram with a brief but telling tribute: “I’m proud of you, son.”
Previously, the elder Ronaldo addressed the prospect of lining up with his son: “I would like it… It’s more in his hands than in mine.”
Cristiano Jr will be part of the Portugal U15 squad participating in the Vlatko Markovic International Tournament in Croatia from May 13 to 18.
He is eligible to represent five nations, Portugal, the U.S., Spain, England, and Cape Verde, but for now, he is following his father’s legacy at international level.
