Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted a possible departure from Al-Nassr after the Saudi Pro League concluded, with the 40-year-old posting something related to a farewell on Instagram.
Just minutes after scoring in the club’s final match of the season, Ronaldo wrote: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”
While no official confirmation has been made, the message suggests the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will not return to the Riyadh-based club next season.
Talks over a contract extension reportedly broke down in recent weeks, leaving Ronaldo poised to become a free agent this summer.
During his two-and-a-half-year stint with Al-Nassr, the club failed to secure any major silverware, finishing 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad in the 2024/25 campaign.
Despite the lack of trophies, Ronaldo maintained exceptional personal form, netting 99 goals in 111 appearances.
His next move remains unclear, though he’s been linked with a potential return to Sporting CP, his boyhood club, as well as a high-profile switch to Major League Soccer.
Retirement has been ruled out for now, with the Portuguese legend previously stating he will continue playing until he reaches 1,000 career goals, he currently sits near the 940 mark.
Ronaldo will now join the Portugal national team ahead of their UEFA Nations League semi-final against Germany on June 4.
