Chelsea came from behind to secure a 4-1 win over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday night at the Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw, Poland.
The Spanish side took an early lead through former Real Madrid midfielder Isco, who capitalised on Chelsea’s defensive disorganisation in the 8th minute.
The Premier League side struggled to settle in the first half, producing just one shot on target and trailing at the break.
Manager Enzo Maresca made three changes at halftime, withdrawing Malo Gusto, Benoît Badiashile, and Pedro Neto. The adjustments shifted the momentum in Chelsea’s favour.
Cole Palmer was instrumental in the comeback, assisting two quick goals in the second half.
In the 65th minute, his cross found Enzo Fernández, who headed in the equaliser. Five minutes later, Palmer provided another assist, delivering a low cross that Nicolas Jackson diverted into the net.
Substitute Jadon Sancho extended Chelsea’s lead in the 83rd minute with a low finish, before Moisés Caicedo sealed the win with a strike in the 90th minute.
The result marked Chelsea’s first European trophy since winning the Champions League in 2021 and completed their collection of all four major UEFA competitions.
The victory also ends Maresca’s first season in charge with silverware, as the Blues prepare to return to the Champions League next season.
