A bride’s father’s advice to her groom at their wedding has sparked discussions online after he stated that it is not a wife’s duty to cook.

In a viral post circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the father emphasized that while a wife may choose to cook for her husband out of love and goodwill, it should not be seen as an obligation.

He further explained that cultural norms should not dictate that women must cook, nor should husbands expect meals as a right.

He cautioned the groom against adopting an entitled attitude, urging him not to frown or demand food as if it were his due.

Instead, he encouraged appreciation for a wife’s efforts, noting that she does it willingly and for the sake of Allah’s mercy.

His statement reads:

“Don’t believe in what our culture promotes—that as the husband and head of the family, you should come home, frown, and demand, ‘Where’s my food?’”

“Who told you she has to cook for you? Nowhere, nobody. She does it out of her own volition because she wants to make you happy and seek Al-Jannah.”

The post quickly gained traction, drawing reactions from social media users who flooded the comment section with their opinions.
