Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has denied reports linking him with a return to Inter Milan, following Simone Inzaghi’s recent departure.
Inzaghi exited Inter after their Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain, accepting a lucrative move to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
Mourinho, who famously won a historic treble with Inter in 2010, was quickly linked with a sensational return to San Siro.
However, Mourinho has dismissed the speculation as false.
According to Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni, the Portuguese tactician sent him a message stating: “It’s a big lie. There was never any contact.”
He reportedly added, “This is just being said because it’s what some angry fans want to hear. And so they say, it was difficult for me to leave Fener, blah blah blah.”
Mourinho joined Fenerbahce in the summer, and finished second in the Turkish Süper Lig, 11 points behind champions Galatasaray.
He last lifted silverware in 2022 with Roma, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Inter will now continue their search for a new head coach, with Mourinho out of the equation.
