Barcelona will officially conclude all remaining contract payments to Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba by the 2024/25 season.
Although the trio no longer plays for the Catalan club, having moved to Inter Miami, deferred wages from the Covid-19 pandemic remain outstanding.
During the pandemic, Messi, Busquets and Alba agreed to defer part of their salaries to help Barcelona manage financial difficulties.
However, the club are still obligated to pay the trio under agreements made after their departures.
These payments are not considered part of Barcelona’s current expenses, as they were accounted for in the club’s 2020/21 financial report, which saw losses of €481 million, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The final payments, set to be completed by the end of the 2024/25 season, will lift some financial burden from the club’s books.
