A Nigerian couple in the UK is celebrating a remarkable blessing as their first child was born with the AA genotype, despite both parents being AS.
The news was shared on social media by @Gustine__, who revealed how the couple with AS genotypes escaped the 50% chance of birthing an AS, and a 25% chance of SS for each pregnancy.
“Congratulations to my people. AS X AS got married, first child in the UK turned out to be AA. A perfect way to end the year!!!” he captioned the post.
The couple’s story has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many celebrating the good news as a testament to hope and faith. Others saw it as a reminder of the importance of genetic counselling.
A social media user @BellaWrites reacted, “Wow, this is such beautiful news! God works in mysterious ways. Wishing them all the best in their parenting journey!”
Another user @Chukwuma1 added, “This is why faith and science go hand in hand. Congratulations to the couple! May their child bring them endless joy.”
