Racing Genk will commence their 2025/26 pre-season training this week without star forward Tolu Arokodare, whose future at the Belgian club remains unclear.

According to Genk’s official communication, first-team players are expected to undergo medicals on Thursday, June 19, ahead of the official training kickoff by head coach Thorsten Fink on Friday.

However, Arokodare, who finished last season as the club’s top scorer, is notably absent from the pre-season list.

Three Nigerian players, Noah Adedeji-Sternberg, Mujaid Sadick, and Yira Sor, have been named in the squad, while Arokodare has been granted extended rest following recent international duty with Nigeria.

The 24-year-old featured off the bench in both June friendlies, netting the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Russia and playing in the Unity Cup win over Jamaica.

Despite the official explanation for his absence being related to fitness and recovery, Arokodare’s omission is fueling speculation over his future.

The striker’s stellar 2024/25 season, which yielded 23 goals and 7 assists, has reportedly drawn attention from clubs across Europe.

With Genk open to offers, a summer move appears increasingly likely.

The club’s first pre-season fixture is set for June 28 against Eendracht Termien.
