Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will address and apologise to fans at Old Trafford after Sunday’s Premier League finale against Aston Villa.
With the 2024/25 campaign widely regarded as one of the worst in the club’s modern history, marked by a dismal domestic finish and compounded by Europa League heartbreak against Tottenham, Amorim has opted for accountability in front of the home crowd.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Amorim admitted his post-game speech will be “an apology,” describing it as “tradition” and “the least I can do.”
The Portuguese coach added, “It will be the biggest mistake if we don’t do that… I will be honest with the fans and say what is in my mind and especially my heart.”
United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League for a second consecutive season has intensified pressure on the former Sporting CP boss, who only took the reins earlier this year.
Despite some flashes of promise, the team’s underperformance has prompted criticism, with expectations now shifting to an aggressive summer overhaul.
Reports indicate the club are closing in on the signing of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, with more reinforcements expected as Amorim attempts to rebuild the squad and restore United’s competitiveness.
