Join our winning team as an Air Permit Writer in Lake Jackson, Texas. In your role as an Air Permit Writer, you will be responsible for working with assigned plants to ensure all potential air emissions are properly authorized in NSR permits, PBRs and Title V federal operating permits. The incumbent will also assist plants in understanding what is required to demonstrate compliance and facilitate environmental agency investigations for their areas. This is a highly visible and valuable position with significant impact on environmental compliance and growth at the Freeport Olin site. The role is part of a small team of Environmental Air Permit Writers at the site.
Air Permit Writer Essential Job Functions:
- Lead projects through the preparation of permit (NSR, Title V, PSD, PBR, Standard) applications and agency negotiations to ensure optimal permit conditions. This frequently requires working with consultants to negotiate permits details with the TCEQ, EPA, and other environmental agencies.
- Assist plant personnel in the implementation of air permit conditions by providing interpretation guidance and leveraging solutions between plants.
- Serve as lead contact and advise other Olin personnel during inspections/investigations by local, state, or federal agencies.
- Assist plants in preparation of Title V Deviation reports and other regulatory reports, driving site consistency in reasonable inquiry and deviation reporting.
- Evaluate impact of proposed regulations on site plants and facilities and facilitate implementation of new regulations.
- Coordinate Texas EH&S Audit Privilege process and correspondence with agency
- Facilitate compliance issue resolution with appropriate team members.
Air Permit Writer Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree* in a technical discipline; Chemical or Environmental Engineering preferred.
- Five years of experience in air permitting and air compliance for chemical, plastic, hydrocarbon and energy facilities required; Previous experience in EH&S preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to establish long-term professional relationships with regulatory agencies.
- Strong written and oral communications skills; strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to communicate effectively will all levels within the organization.
- Proficient in standard MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of the State of Texas and Federal air regulations and their impact on the Chemical Industry is strongly preferred, especially with regards to permits
- Must be able to occasionally visit plants and travel to Austin, TX for regulatory meetings.
- Prior Olin experience in a relevant position strongly preferred.
