Popular Nigerian rapper, Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez has traced the significant breakthrough of afrobeats to when singer, Wizkid dropped his massive hit song, Essence.
During an international interview in Los Angeles, the interviewer discussed the rapper’s accomplishments leading up to his Grammy performance.
Blaqbonez claimed that although he is working on it, he is not a very optimistic person. He said he never thought his major achievements would ever materialize.
According to the “Back In Uni” crooner, the release of Wizkid’s smash song “Essence” featuring Tems’ talent marked a significant breakthrough for afrobeats. He believes that afrobeats is a genre to keep an eye on.
