<p>37 <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/students-expelled"><strong>students</strong></a> have been expelled from the Nasarawa State University for one academic session, 2024/2025, over a <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/?s=planned+protest"><strong>planned protest</strong></a>.</p>
<p>The students were accused of being involved in “<em>criminal conspiracy</em>, <em>inciting public disturbance, and <strong>cyber-stalking</strong>.”</em></p>
<p>Their dismissal was conveyed in a letter, signed by the school Registrar, Dr. Bala Ahmed.</p>
<p>The letter outlined sanctions, emphasizing that the Chief Security Officer and relevant university departments have been directed to enforce compliance.</p>
<p>The document, titled “<em>Rustication for One Academic Session,”</em> cited the students’ alleged use of a WhatsApp group to mobilize protests as a breach of institutional peace.</p>
<p>The <strong>disciplinary action</strong> stemmed from the students’ involvement in the WhatsApp group allegedly created to organize protests against the university’s introduction of a third semester.</p>
<p>The affected students have been instructed to stay off campus unless granted written permission.</p>
<p>The school said the students may resume studies in the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session, provided they return with a parent/guardian and submit a written pledge of good conduct.</p>
<p>The suspended students span multiple departments, including Public and International Law, Computer Science, Microbiology, Sociology, and Urban and Regional Planning.</p>
<p>The university reiterated that the <strong>rustication</strong> serves as both a punitive and corrective measure, urging compliance “<em>in the students’ best interest.”</em></p>
